Operational Reliability

What is Operational Reliability?

Operational Reliability (Driftsäkerhet) is the ability of a system or facility to perform its intended function continuously and without interruption, measured by MTBF and MTTR and achieved through redundancy, monitoring and preventive maintenance.

Technical Definition: The ability of a system or facility to perform its intended function continuously and without interruption. Technically measured in MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), and achieved through redundancy, real-time monitoring and preventive maintenance strategies.

Why it matters: In critical infrastructure – hospitals, data centres, food production – a single hour of unplanned downtime can cost millions. Operational reliability is the primary driver for investing in automation and continuous monitoring.

HubMind’s view: We design systems with redundancy and fail-safe logic where local control always takes priority. A centralised cloud connection should never be a single point of failure in the control chain.
