What is Webhooks?
Webhooks are a method for event-driven integration where one system automatically sends data to another when a specific event occurs, eliminating the need for continuous polling and enabling real-time workflows between operational and business systems.
Technical Definition: A method for letting one system send automatic notifications to another when a specific event occurs. Unlike polling (repeatedly asking “is there anything new?”), webhooks are event-driven – the source system pushes data to a receiving URL (endpoint) the moment something happens.
Why it matters: Webhooks enable real-time event-driven integration without continuous polling. A fault alarm in the BMS can instantly trigger a maintenance request in the CMMS via a webhook – no polling, no delay, no wasted network bandwidth.
