What is The Engine?
The Engine is HubMind’s name for the central data platform that controls all data flow in a facility – the technical implementation of a Unified Namespace where data from all systems is collected, standardised and made available to all consumers.
Technical Definition: HubMind’s name for the central platform controlling all data flow in a facility. The Engine is the technical implementation of a Unified Namespace – the hub where data from all systems is collected, standardised and made available to all other systems and analytics tools in real time.
Why it matters: Without a central data platform, every new integration becomes a bilateral custom project. The Engine creates a single shared data layer – reducing integration costs dramatically and enabling real-time analytics across all facility systems simultaneously.
HubMind’s view: The Engine is the heart of our methodology. We see MQTT and OPC UA as the “glue” in the Engine – the protocols that connect facility control systems with cloud-based analytics and business platforms.
